Here, we take a look at the art of storyboarding and how to construct and previsualise your entire movie before you even start to roll the camera! Once again, I have been scouring the world-wide web trying to find the best content to upload here onto the ReelShow. Now, here’s a video from the folks over at Indy Mogul who share with just how to go about storyboarding a short film. This is a superb little video and the guys at the site have also included a storyboard template so that you can construct/draw your own. Now, storyboards are a series of drawings, or graphics, constructed in sequence to pre-visualise a short film, animation or even website maps. In fact, I storyboarded my own site before I put mouse to PC. Storyboards were actually developed by the Walt Disney Company all of the way back in the early 1930’s. Today, things have gone a step further and the same studio, along with Pixar are said to have pre-visualised the entire screenplay for the upcoming TOY STORY 3, and then shown it to Tom Hanks, who voices the character of Woody. Pre-vis storyboards have also been used on films like WAR OF THE WORLDS, PANIC ROOM and FIGHT CLUB. So, here’s the video from Indy Mogul. Be sure to download the storyboard template right here . Also, for those who are interested, here's a look at one of the pre-viz storyboards for the recent Steven Spielberg film INDIANA JONES AND THE KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL..
