The film won the Gold Medal for Best Director at the Graduation Awards at L V Prasad Film School, Chennai. The award was given by A R Rahman, K Balachander, and Balu Mahendra. The film played at the Delhi International Arts Festival, The Chennai international Film Festival.
Ranga is a 12 year old boy growing up in a south Indian vilalge in the heart fo india, circa 1970. His world is turned upside down when he is forced to become the last-minute replacement for a part in Varadhu's village play. The only problem: the role he has to play is that of a girl!

Shot as a graduation film at L V Prasad Film and TV Academy, Chennai, the film is based on a short story by writer Sujata, that is very popular in Tamil literature.
